Raymond W. Hinton




Raymond W. Hinton was born on May 15, 1956 to the late Esaw & Mary J. Hinton in Akron, Ohio. He is the youngest child of six children. Raymond, however, attended school and spent his childhood in Meridian, Miss. Raymond returned to Akron, OH in 1973 but soon relocated to Detroit, MI, where he attended Wayne State University.

Raymond's singing ministry started as a child in Meridian Miss at his home church, The Greater Mt. Herman Baptist Church and continued in adulthood at the Holy Cross Baptist Church in Detroit, MI under the late Rev. James H. Porter. Raymond was surrounded by the world's finest Musician's while there in Detroit - The late Pro. Thomas H. Whitfield - Jimmy Dowell (better known as JD) of the Saint James Baptist Church and the Renown Bishop Andre S. Woods (I Feel Like Going) along with many others.

Upon returning to Akron, Ohio, Raymond joined The Zion Temple Baptist Church. There he presently serves as Director of Music under the leadership of Pastor Mark (Tony) Ward.

Raymond is a Recording Artist - Songwriter and Composer, and the proud founder & director of The Raymond W. Hinton & The Anointed Voices of Praise Ministry. Over the past 21 years, Raymond has recorded with Walter E.L. Scrutchings and the Akron City Family Choir; Walter Scrutchings & Company; Elvin Dent & The United Voices of Inspiration of Augusta Georgia. Raymond has teamed up with the Renown Walter E.L. Scrutchings, one of the finest songwriters and musicians across the country, to produce his third live CD project, "I Won't Turn Back". Raymond also serves as one of the assistant chapter representatives for the Akron/Canton chapter of The Gospel Music Workshop of America -The world's largest Gospel Music Workshop Convention - founded by the late Rev. James Cleveland.
